Studio Course Emerging Technologies 2017

Project Description

In the Spring term 2017, I taught the course Int416 Emerging Technologies at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. The purpose of the course is two-fold. On the one hand, students are exposed to contemporary programming and markup languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, d3.js, Processing, etc. This enables students to better understand the core ‘material’ of interaction design, while it also provides them with different tools to build prototypes. On the other hand, various readings on technology give students an understanding of how (emerging) technologies shape the practice of interaction designers.

Deliverables of this course included various programming exercises and a short presentation of an emerging technology from the Gartner Hype Cycle.
