Low Cost Multitouch Trackpad
Although I am not a big supporter of the touch technology in general (read Bret Victors ‘Brief rant on the future of Interaction Design‘ to find out why) there is no denying that touchscreens were a game-changer on how we interact with technology. Unfortunately, touchscreens are very expensive and even if you know how to theoretically build one, most people lack the equipment to do so. On the other hand – when building prototypes for a new concept revolving around touch technology, it is essential to use one so you can test and evaluate your idea.
This instructable shows how to build a touch and trackpad using nothing else but a picture frame, a webcam, a laptop, and some craft supplies. This way you can easily build a working touch and trackpad to prototype your concepts with.
